Birthday Invites & Classes!

I have decided to take a break from creating Julia's third birthday invitation to post the upcoming classes. I have the basic design, stamps and paper chosen but I feel like there is something missing....the problem is that I do not know what it is! You ever have that problem?? Maybe I am putting too much pressure on myself to create the perfect invite but like I said before, this is something that I LOVE to do for my children.

Her first birthday invitation was awesome (if I do say so myself). Here is a little peak... I used Penny Black's animal party stamp. It was stamped using Versafine Olympia green ink and embossed using clear embossing powder. I then coloured the image with Souffle pens; they gave me the exact look I was going for. I tried Tombow markers first with the image stamped on white paper and the whole card was just wrong. The moment the image was stamped on the orange paper and the Souffles were used, it just all came together.

I used the Cricut to cut the "1st" out. Looking at the invite I love how I stuck with a "circle" theme throughout the invitation. The circles around the invite were an after thought...they were my favourite addition to the invite.

Here is a little look at her second birthday invitation. I used Scribble Scrabbles circus baby paper and what do you know, I once again choose a "circle" theme for the invite. I used the cuttlebug and nestabilities to cut out the various sizes of circles. The cricut was used again to cut out the "2". Glitter was used on the entire invite just to make it a little more girly!

So now you know why I am stressing! Oh...the pressure we put on ourselves! I will post the final invite once complete and you guys can tell me how I did!

Enough about me....here are the cards for the next round of classes. Please call (519.351.5220) or stop in the store to reserve your spot. Please DO NOT email. As always, payment within 48 hours is required to hold your seat.

Did you miss us...

So I’ve been feeling a little guilty lately for not posting anything lately. We were so good in California (well for 4 days anyways!) and then we just went MIA. I think it was the sun or the drinks or maybe we just needed a nice break for a few days. Sorry for not saying much lately but here is a little of what has been going on....

New Product Update

We have been back for a few weeks now and all the new product is starting to arrive. We have seen new gorgeous paper from Scribble Scrabble (they were the first company to ship). My two favourites are their apple and tree papers. We have also received the new Penny Black and Inkadinkado stamps. Basic Grey’s three new lines, porcelain, Lime Rickety and Marrakech have made their way into the store last week and we must tell you that they have settled in quite nicely...but I know not for long! Some Stampingbella’s have also walked in through the door. I know a few other things have arrived. You will have to stop by to see for yourself!

Julia’s Valentines

I was quite busy last week preparing for Valentine’s Day. If you guys know me, you know that I LOVE to do paper crafts for my kids. I normally go over the top for things like their birth announcements or birthday invitations. I actually had a moment of panic last week, when I realized Julia’s birthday is one month away!!! I have no clue what I am going to do for her invite!! I would like to try to start something tonight!

Anyways, back to the valentines…here is a picture of all the valentines I made for Julia’s Montessori class. They are not too crazy...just fun!

I used Stampingbella’s Huggabug on cupcake stamp and coloured them with some pencils. I added a ton of glitter to the frosting. I used decorative paper for the cupcake wrapper. The best part was using the nestabilities to cut out the heart shape. I then found these adorable glittery pencils at Staples in the clearance bin (24 pencils for $2.50!!). I taped the pencil to the back of the heart valentine and they looked like these adorable suckers.

Bride&Joy Storefront Closing

Some of you may have seen the sad news posted on Bride&Joy’s window. We have decided to close our storefront. It is a sad time for us, but a great time for you to save on our amazing items….things like great cocktail napkins, stylish aprons, fine stationery, wedding accessories, party supplies and more! From February 17 to 21, enjoy 50% off all in stock items AND from February 24 to 28, enjoy 60% off!!!

We are basically consolidating the two stores. The invitation business will move back to The Pickle. We will also have catalogue sales from the store and our online store will continue to be up and running.

Our last day will be February 28th. So starting in March you will see a lot more of me and Kell. We are excited to get back to our true love, The Paper Pickle.

So you will have to bear with us over the next two weeks until we get Bride&Joy wrapped up. We may not have time to post much, but we promise that we will post regularly in the very near future!! Thanks for your understanding!
